Tonight was the Last Night of Mother Grove’s clergy training program. There are a bajillion details to be worked out before next weekend’s ordination but all the candidates are ready. Really ready.
They spoke their vows tonight, one at a time, at the main altar in the little Temple. You could feel the sizzle of energy in the waiting area and each woman stepped out with a kind of glow about her.
It has been a long and involved journey to set this first flight of priestesses free. We’ve been together for over a year and have talked about so many things, discussed what it means to do what we do, what standing as clergy to a modern Goddess temple actually means.
They are not the same women they were last July. They are smarter and savvier, their heads and hearts are full.
But after they speak their vows aloud next week, after the stoles are on and the cords tied, then they will have the years of on-the-job training that can only happen when one is on the job.
It’s going to be interesting to watch what happens then.
